What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website places on your device. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work, others serve to measure visitor behaviour or to show advertising. The second group requires your consent; the first does not.

What this website uses

This website sets no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no third-party cookies. We do count how many visitors the site gets and which pages they view, with Umami, which we host ourselves. That happens without cookies and without storing or reading anything on your device: the counter derives from your IP address and your browser type an anonymous code that changes regularly and from which nothing about you can be worked out. Your IP address itself is not kept. If your browser asks not to be tracked (Do Not Track), your visit is not counted. We keep three things in your browser's storage: the language you chose, whether you want the light or the dark appearance, and, only for as long as your tab stays open, a technical flag that stops the site from reloading in a loop when a file fails to load. All three are strictly necessary for a function you asked for yourself or for the site to work properly, and therefore need no consent, as provided by article 129 of the Belgian Electronic Communications Act.

If that ever changes

If we later add techniques that do place something on your device or follow you across websites, such as advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent first, through a dialog in which refusing is exactly as easy as accepting. Nothing is placed before you make a choice, and you can change that choice afterwards as easily as you gave it.

Managing it yourself

You can delete stored data at any time through your browser settings. The site then no longer remembers your language or appearance: the homepage opens in Dutch and every page in the dark appearance, until you choose again. It stays fully usable in every case.
