A website of the department's own, kept up by themselves

Designed in Figma, built in Webflow with a CMS, photography included: the department now publishes its own information.

The ask

The gastroenterology and hepatology department of AZ Delta wanted, like other departments with a website of their own, to publish its own information.

What we built

All of the department's information summarised from PDFs and Word documents, a functional analysis and a complete design in Figma, with Studio Cre8. The logo brought back to life and a brand story with its colours. A professional photo shoot for the whole department. Built in Webflow with a CMS, accessible and in three languages.

What it brought

A website the department manages and updates itself, without a developer.

What we did, step by step

01

A lot of information, clear for patients

The gastroenterology and hepatology department of AZ Delta wanted to publish its own information, like other departments with a website of their own. The brief was clear: a website they can fully change themselves whenever they want, accessible to everyone and in several languages. The challenge was the amount. Conditions, examinations, treatments, doctors, campuses, opening hours and routes: a patient has to find and understand all of it quickly, often at a moment of worry.

02

Understand first, design after

All of the department's information was spread over PDFs and Word documents on SharePoint. We read them all, summarised them and made a functional analysis: what the site must do, for whom, and what goes where. Out of that came the site's main lines: a part for patients with the conditions and examinations, a part about the team, and a practical part with the campuses, appointments and directions. Every condition got the same structure: symptoms, causes, examinations, treatments and the doctors who treat it.

03

A complete design, with Studio Cre8

On that basis we proposed a complete design for the website, every page worked out in Figma: the home page with its three entrances, a condition's page, a doctor's page, the practical information per campus. For design, photography and content we worked with Studio Cre8, Ellen Creus's studio. The department saw the whole site before a single page was built, and could decide page by page.

04

The logo brought back to life

The department had a logo, but no visual identity around it. We brought the logo back to life and defined the brand story: what the department wants to convey to patients, and the colours that go with it. MDL's warm orange and red return throughout the site, from the buttons to the photos. So the department now has one image, on the website and beyond it.

05

A photo shoot for the whole department

A website for patients shows the people who will help them. We organised a professional photo shoot for the whole department: all the doctors, but also the support staff and the secretariat, at work and in the hospital. Those photos now carry the site: every doctor with a portrait of their own on their page, and the corridors, consultation rooms and reception as the images beside the practical information.

06

Editable by the team, accessible and multilingual

We built the site in Webflow, with a CMS behind it. A new doctor, a changed hour, an extra condition: the department changes it itself, whenever it wants, without a developer. Every condition and every doctor is a record in the CMS that becomes the right page on its own. The site is built to be accessible, so that people with poor sight or navigating by keyboard can read and use everything, and it exists in Dutch, French and English. Everything that was asked for was delivered.

What the client says

A professional collaboration: Samuel handled the design and the photo shoot thoroughly, in several rounds of feedback. They really listened to what our department wanted, and you can see it in the result.
